Rockets beat Rebels in shootout

The Kelowna Rockets defeated the Red Deer Rebels 4-3 in a shootout Tuesday night, kicking off a four-game road trip with their third consecutive victory.

Madison Bowey was the only player on either team to score in the shootout, netting the game winner as Jackson Whistle stopped all four Red Deer shooters he faced. Bowey also scored in regulation as the teams exchanged goals in the second period.

After the Rebels jumped out to a 2-0 lead, Kelowna scored three goals in a two-minute stretch of the second to take a 3-2 lead into the dressing room after two periods of play.

Tyson Baillie scored his 30th goal of the season for the Rockets, while Justin Kirkland had his 17th.

Kelowna outshot Red Deer 40-27 in the game.

The Rockets continue the road trip Wednesday in Edmonton against the Oil Kings. Kelowna will also play in Lethbridge Friday and against Kootenay Saturday before returning home.

The Rockets next home game is Feb. 6 vs. Kamloops at Prospera Place.
