High flying Rockets erase Tips

Cole Linaker scored his first of the season 24 seconds into overtime leading the Kelowna Rockets to a 5-4 victory over the Everett Silvertips Friday in the Washington city.

Tyson Baillie with a pair, Austin Glover and Nick Merkley also scored for the Rockets who improved their record to a perfect 5-0-0-0.

Madison Bowey, Rourke Chartier and Kris Schmidli all chipped in with a pair of assists.

Jackson Whistle stopped 24 shots for his fifth win of the season.

The Rockets jumped out to a 2-0 lead on a pair of goals from Baillie his sixth and seventh of the young campaign.

The Silvertips tied it late in the second period on goals 10 seconds apart on a power-play and a penalty shot.

Nikita  Scherbak netted his second of the night early in the third to give Everett its first lead of the night.

However, goals from Glover and Merkley 97 seconds apart restored the Rockets lead.

Cole MacDonald tied it on a Tips power-play a short time later forcing overtime.

The Rockets power-play connected on one of five opportunities while Everett went 2-5.

The Rockets are now the only WHL remaining with an unblemished record.

At 5-0 this is also the best start for a Rockets team since the franchise moved from Tacoma.

The Rockets look for a sixth straight win Saturday when they conclude their road trip in Seattle.

Kelowna returns home to face the Swift Current Broncos Tuesday at Prospera Place.
