Hockey swaps on this weekend

A sure sign summer is winding down - hockey season is gearing up...literally.

Each of the three minor hockey programs in the Central Okanagan, Lake Country, Kelowna and West Kelowna, are hosting hockey swaps this coming weekend.

Lake Country Minor Hockey and Kelowna Minor Hockey have joined forces to host a hockey swap Sunday, Aug 24 from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Mission Sports on Springfield Road.

Equipment can be dropped off at the store between now and Friday from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.

Unsold equipment and money can be picked up following the sale Sunday at Mission Sports between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m.

With each item sold, 70 per cent of revenue goes to the seller with 30 per cent going to KidSport and A4K (Athletes for Kids).

West Kelowna Minor Hockey will host their annual hockey swap at Ultimate Hockey and Skate on Main Street from 8:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. Sunday, Aug 24.

Equipment can be dropped off at the store until Friday between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m.

30 per cent of proceeds from the West Kelowna hockey swap goes to support West Kelowna KidSport.

Unsold equipment and money can be picked up at the store following the sale.

Edmonton Oiler defenceman Justin Schultz will be on hand at the store signing autographs.

Both swaps are cash only.
