Thirsty for the penalty box

Think you've seen everything in hockey - every type of play, every type of call.

Here's a new one.

It happened in Portland last Saturday night - game two of the best-of-seven first round series between the Winterhawks and the Vancouver Giants.

It was late in the second period and the Winterhawks, up 3-0 in the game, were in the midst of a lengthy five-on-three power-play.

After the whistle blew following a scramble around the Vancouver net, Portland forward Brandon Leipsic decided to take a drink from the water bottle perched atop the net.

Only problem - wrong bottle, wrong net.

Referee Mike Campbell immediately sent Leipsic to the box - two minutes for unsportsmanlike conduct.

Portland went on to win the game 3-0 and eventually the series in four straight.
