Local ski cross teen takes the podium

The Okanagan's Ned Ireland is making a splash in the Ski-cross world with a recent podium finish.

The 19-year-old came in third at the Nor-Am Ski Cross series in Invermere.

This latest exciting finish puts him in line for third position overall in the sport and second best in Canada on the Nor-Am tour.

Ireland shared the latest podium with first place, Robert Mahre, 27 from the US and second place Kevin MacDonald, 21 from Ontario.

Recently he was in the World Cup at Nakiska in early December and also came second in the pro division at a Western Open Ski Cross race held at Big White Ski Resort.

Ireland is a UBCO student in the human kinetics program and former Big White Racer.

He is off to Colorado this weekend for the next Nor-Am event.
