Rockets road journey begins with win

The Kelowna Rockets opened their season-long six game road trip on a winning note.

The Rockets erased a one goal deficit with three goals in less than three minutes late in the third period Tuesday is a 4-2 win over the Eastern Division leading Swift Current Broncos.

Tied 1-1 with less than six minutes left in regulation time and on a power-play, the Rockets gave up the go ahead shorthanded goal to Zac Mackay.

Zach Franko got that one back two minutes later before Ryan Olsen gave the Rockets their first lead of the game on another Rockets power-play with 68 seconds left in the game.

Colton Heffley sealed the come-from-behind win into an empty net at 19:21.

Tyrell Goulbourne scored the other Kelowna goal.

The Rockets fired 43 shots, including 21 in the third period, in the direction of Broncos goaltender Eetu Laurikainen who held Kelowna at bay until the dying minutes.

Tuesday's win was the Rockets seventh in a row and 16 in 17 games.

They have also won eight in a row away from home.

The Rockets (23-3-0-2) continue their eastern road trip Wednesday night in Moose Jaw.
