With today’s busy schedules and increasing demands on your time, it is often difficult to dedicate a regular schedule to your health and well being through sport and recreation. A consistent league night or program time isn’t always an option. The City of Kelowna – Sport and Recreation addresses this issue with a number of ongoing drop-in sports programs for adults at various locations and facilities around Kelowna.

Indoor Soccer - with the popularity of Soccer on the rise, a number of Drop-In Indoor Soccer programs exist for the soccer enthusiast. The Capital News Centre is a top-class facility located on Gordon Dr. in the Mission (at Lequime Rd.) and is home to two field turf indoor soccer fields. Weekly Co-ed Drop-In Indoor Soccer sessions are held Mondays & Thursdays from 12 Noon – 1:15pm. Evening sessions are Tuesdays from 5:45 – 6:45pm, and for the Over 35 age group, Tuesdays from 6:45 – 7:45pm. Drop-in fees for all of these programs is $5.00 and space is limited.

Hockey – looking for that occasional game of “Shinny” or just learning the sport and looking for that beginner level fun game? Sport & Rec. offers 6 different Co-ed Drop-In Hockey times each week for all different ages and ability levels at Rutland & Memorial Arenas. These Drop-In sessions are “no slapshot” and “no contact” for everyone’s safety. Mondays from 11:30am – 1:00pm is for the Over 50’s. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays from 11:30am – 1:00pm is Open to all adult players. Wednesday nights from 9:00 – 10:15pm is the new “Ladies Only” Drop-In Hockey. Thursday nights from 9:00 – 10:15pm is for the Over 35 age group. Drop-in fees for the lunch hour sessions is $6, and it's $10 for the prime-time evening sessions.

Open Gym – Parkinson Rec. Centre offers a number of Open Gym times throughout the week for Basketball and other sports. Tuesday through Sunday from 12:00 Noon to 1:30pm are consistent open gym times weekly. For other times and fees, contact the Parkinson Rec. Centre at 469-8800

For those of you who would like to play every week at these times, registration is also available. By registering for each program, you reserve your spot each week and pay a reduced fee. Registration is available throughout the season and fees will also be prorated to reflect the number of sessions remaining. Age limits are in effect for some programs, so contact Sport & Recreation at 469-8800 or www.sportandreckelowna.ca for information on these and the hundreds of other programs being offered each season.
