The City of Kelowna – Sport & Recreation is a large division of the city that encompasses many different programs, locations, events and user groups. The scope of Sport & Recreation is often underestimated so here are a few “Did you knows…” to help you become more familiar with your Sport & Recreation Services:
Did you know….
- Sport & Recreation is offering 734 direct programs this summer for the citizens and visitors of Kelowna. There are also many special events and drop-in activities in addition to this.
- Sport & Recreation is widely regarded as a leader in the province with original programming, facility development, athlete support and innovative sport and event development.
- Sport & Recreation has three office locations for recreation information and registration – Parkinson Rec. Centre, Sport Kelowna (at Rutland Arena) and the Kickstart Office (at Capri Centre Mall)
Sport & Recreation offers programs, leagues and events at over 50 locations throughout the Kelowna during the year.
- Sport & Recreation partners with a number of local businesses and associations to offer a wider variety of recreation options with specialized instruction.
- Sport & Recreation has three ways to register for programs (in person, by phone, and online) and two websites for recreation information (www.sportandreckelowna.ca and www.sportkelowna.com )
- Sport & Recreation Co-ed Slo-Pitch League is the largest league in British Columbia with 148 teams and over 2100 players.
- The Sport & Recreation Seasonal Activity Guide is published four times per year and is a huge source of general community information as well as a catalog of recreation options and source of local sport association contacts.
