One of the most attractive features of the Okanagan Valley are it’s lakes and the recreation opportunities they bring to the residents and visitors of Kelowna. Besides the swimming, waterskiing, wakeboarding, and fishing, throw in a little wind and it’s time to Sail!

The City of Kelowna – Sport & Recreation has once again partnered with the Central Okanagan Boating Association (Hobson Rd.) to offer a number of introductory level Learn to Sail and Learn to Windsurf program packages during the year. This spring has shown that the popularity of these programs is on the rise with the first Spring Adult Learn to Sail program already being sold out! A second program has been added for the spring season to address this demand.

Adult Learn to Sail Program is a 6 lesson package that will run Mondays & Thursdays from 6:00 – 9:00pm, from June 11-28 at COBA on Hobson Rd. Adults are going to earn their Canadian Yachting Association, White Sail 1, and possibly White Sail 2 levels. Almost all instruction will be on the water, with adults paired in their very own 14' dinghy. Sailors will learn the basics of sailing on and off the water, including terminology, water safety, ability to rig and de-rig the boats independently, and the skill to launch, set sail, and return to dock. By the end of the program students will be able to sail around Okanagan Lake safely with minimal supervision.
