Top Notch Coaching for SFU Spring Break Soccer Camp.

The Clan are coming and they are sending some of their best!

As reported in the Jan. 29 column, the Simon Fraser University Clansmen Men’s Soccer Program is coming to Kelowna to offer a spring break soccer camp for youth, March 12-16 at the Capital News Centre Indoor Soccer Fields. Registration for the camp has been excellent with only a few spots remaining, and the SFU coaching staff for Kelowna will be some of the top players and coaches in the 40 year history of the university soccer program!

Dave Elligott - Head Coach (6th season): Dave Elligott will enter his 7th year as the SFU men's varsity soccer program's head coach in 2007. Before joining the Clan as head coach in 2001, Elligott spent five seasons (1996-2000) as an assistant coach and four seasons (1992-1995) as a varsity team member with the Clan. In addition to coaching at the university level, Elligott’s coaching experience includes working at the National, Provincial, and Semi-Professional levels.

In 2006, Elligott was a member Vancouver Whitecaps reserve team coaching staff, working as an assistant coach. In 2001, Elligott served as assistant coach of the Under-20 Canadian National Team during tournament preparation camps in Europe and South America. That same year he served as assistant coach of the Canadian National Youth (U-20) Team at the FIFA World Youth Championship in Argentina.

Prior to these appointments, Elligott served as an assistant coach with both the Under-15 BC Provincial Team (1997), and the Under-15 Canadian National Team (2000). He has also worked extensively in player development, serving as a staff coach at the Canadian National Team Training Center in Vancouver (1997-2000). Elligott played for the Clan from 1992-95, serving as team captain during his final two years.

In 1994 and 1995, he led the Clan to the NAIA National Championship Tournament, and was named an NAIA All-American each year. He was also selected SFU’s Male University Athlete of the Year for each of his final two seasons. In addition, Elligott won NAIA Academic All-American honors and graduated from SFU with a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology and Business Administration. During his playing career, Elligott represented Canada as a member of the Canadian Olympic Soccer Team (1993-96), the Canadian Pan American Games Team (1994), the Canadian Francophone Games Team (1994), and the Canadian World University Games Team (1995). He was also a member of the Vancouver 86ers of the A-League for three seasons.

Raegyn Hall – Assistant Coach: 2007 will mark Raegyn Hall's third season as the assistant coach at SFU. This native of Victoria, British Columbia brings over 10 years of coaching experience to the position, and is currently a director and staff coach with Island Keeper Clinic, a goalkeeper specific player development organization.

Raegyn spent 4 years as the starting goalkeeper in the SFU Men’s Soccer Program (2001-2004), and was a 2-time All-Region Team and All-American Honorable Mention selection. Raegyn was named co-captain in his senior year, and lead the team to an appearance in the Elite 8 of the NAIA National Tournament, marking the second time in his career that he had backstopped the SFU Men’s Soccer Team to a place in the final 8 in the NAIA.

Greg St. Germain – Assistant Coach: Greg St. Germain will enter his 4th season on staff with the SFU men's varsity soccer program in 2007. An outstanding player during his previous spell with the Program, Greg was a 2-time All-Region Team selection, and was named an NAIA All-American in each of his final two seasons (1996 and 1997). Greg also represented Canada as a member of the Under-20 National Team and played professionally in Scotland for one season with Dundee United.

Andrew Corazza - SFU Men's Soccer Alumni: Andrew Corazza played for the SFU Clan from 2002 to 2005. During this time, he established himself as one of the most dynamic and exciting players in the 40 year history of the Program. His 81 goals in 69 career appearances easily place him at the top of the SFU Men's Soccer all-time career goals scored list.

A 4-time NAIA All-Region Selection, Andrew was also voted to the NAIA All-America team in his senior year. At the conclusion of his career at SFU, Andrew was selected 10th overall in the 2005 USL Division I entry draft. Although playing remains his primary focus, Andrew has over 6 years of soccer camp coaching experience also has extensive youth coaching experience throughout British Columbia.

Josh Smith - SFU Men's Soccer Alumni: Josh Smith has been a member of the SFU Soccer Camps and Clinics coaching staff since 1990, and is the most experienced youth camp instructor on staff.

He played for the Clan in the late 80's and early 90's, earning NAIA All-American and All-Region honors. Following a successful senior soccer career at the top amateur level in BC, Josh turned his attention to youth coaching with the Golden Ears United Soccer Club in Maple Ridge, BC.
