Update: Grass fire near Osoyoos
Sep 30, 2012 / 12:08 pm
Emergency crews have been called out to a small grass fire which is burning in the South Okanagan.
"We have two initial attack crews and a water-tender assisting, as well as the Osoyoos Fire Department," says Fire Information Officer Michaela Swan.
Crews were still on the scene of the fire early Sunday afternoon, estimated at 0.2 of a hectare and burning near the Larose Vineyard.
A witness tells Castanet the fire began around 8:10 Sunday morning and that crews were called to 103rd Street in Osoyoos.
"There is no obvious cause at this point so we're investigating that," says Swan.
A busy fall continues for the Kamloops Fire Centre.
The fire danger rating remains high throughout the Okanagan and Swan says 24 percent of this season's fires have happened in September.
