South Okanagan

A one hectare grass fire is burning near Green Lake Road in Okanagan Falls.

Nine forestry members are assisting the local fire department with the blaze.

Fire Information Officer Michaela Swan says there is also a helicopter and air tanker on scene.

"There are structures in the immediate vicinity, we are just working on assessing the threat to those structures."

Depending on the winds in the area, Swan says a grass fire such as this will usually be successfully extinguished.

Residents of Okanagan Falls first reported the blaze just after 3 p.m.
