Motorcycle accident closes Hwy. 97

An accident on Highway 97 shut the road down for over three hours Wednesday morning.

A motorcycle was traveling northbound along the highway near Vaseux Lake, north of Oliver, when the driver lost control in a tight corner curving right.

The 59-year-old male driver, from Kelowna, crossed the solid centre line and crashed into the cement barrier, where he was thrown from his bike.

The man was first taken to Penticton Regional Hospital before being transported to a Vancouver Hospital.

He is in serious condition.

Traffic services are investigating the incident.

Another motorcyclist also had trouble with a corner on Monday this week when he missed a turn on Hwy. 3 near Kaleden.
