Hwy 3, a dangerous road

Highway 3 near Kaleden can be a dangerous stretch of road.

Kaleden Fire Chief, Darlene Bailey, says no one has died on the highway but there have been many serious accidents over the years.

"Speed is a serious factor on the highway, and contributes to many of the accidents."

On Monday, June 27, a motorcycle traveling three kilometres up Highway 3 went over a ditch, up a hill and into a fence.

The driver was taken to hospital and the extent of his injuries is unknown.

Bailey says many hands were needed to rescue the driver from the crash site.

"We had to get him down the hill into a ten-foot deep ditch then up onto the highway four feet up the other side."

Speed is considered a factor in this incident.
