A Salmon Arm RCMP officer with a solid memory was able to help recapture an escapee who was shopping in the area last week.
RCMP members were made aware in 2018 of a man that may be in and out of the area who was at large after escaping custody in September 2016.
On May 29, the man was located in a shopping centre parking lot by Salmon Arm RCMP officers. When he was spoken to he provided a false name and had no ID but he looked familiar to one of the officers.
Officers continued to investigate the man's identity because he did not produce identification. The officers were able to quickly identify the man from his distinctive tattoos and arrested him on outstanding warrants.
He has more than 40 outstanding charges from Alberta, Ontario and other western provinces.
The man was kept in police custody and then remanded back into custody on May 30, 2019.
