2 injured in highway crash

Salmon Arm RCMP report two people were injured in a dramatic crash that closed Highway 97B in both directions Monday afternoon although no one appeared to be seriously hurt.

Police and other emergency personnel were called to the scene at the corner of Highway 1 and Highway 97B on August 22 just before 4 p.m.

According to the RCMP, a westbound car on Highway 1 turned left to go south on Highway 97B, crossing into the path of an SUV towing a boat.

“A collision in the intersection ensued. The eastbound SUV and boat overturned and the car which was turning left was heavily damaged,” said Staff Sgt. Scott West, commanding officer of the Salmon Arm detachment. “The occupant of the eastbound SUV was treated at the scene by BC Ambulance and the driver of the westbound car was taken to the hospital in Salmon Arm and treated for what was believed to be non-life threatening injuries.”
