More than 40 musical acts, including Colvin & Earle, Whitehorse and folk legend Tim Williams, are in Salmon Arm this weekend for the 24th annual Roots and Blues Festival.
The three-day event begins Friday with a main stage featuring Ontario’s Digging Roots and Great Lake Swimmers followed by Vancouver bluegrass artists John Reischman and the Jaybirds. Colvin & Earle, comprised of Shawn Colvin and Steve Earle, play a 90-minute set to cap the first night.
For Saturday’s main stage lineup, there’s a classic Salmon Arm blend of genres — Tiller’s Folly with Celtic folk, blues artist David Gogo, Crystal Shawanda, Sugar Brown and folk legend Tim Williams. On Sunday, Amy Helm and her band The Handsome Strangers and Canadian bluesman Matt Andersen close the weekend.
There are multiple daytime stages — the Boogie Bar-N, Jack Daniels Barn Stage and CBC Blues State — as well as continual workshops that draw together musicians of diverse backgrounds for ensembles and conversation.
Festival weekend passes are $189 (adult) while day passes range from $65 to $75.
