Local craft fairs and marketplaces

‘Tis the season of craft fairs and colourful displays, and there is no shortage of events in Kelowna this month to get you in the gifting spirit and help you find those little gems.

Summerhill Pyramid Winery is presenting “Fabulous Finds” on November 4 (4 pm – 9 pm) and November 5 (10 am to 4 pm). The event is an artisan & collectors show featuring crafts & vintage items.

The Rotary Centre for the Arts will be a hopping place this month! On November 6, the Bridal and Grad Expo will take place here from noon to 6 pm. Tickets are $20 and the event promises to deliver thousands of dollars in door prizes and more wedding and grad ideas than you can imagine.

On November 12 and 13, the Rotary Centre for the Arts will host For the Love of Art Almighty!, an impressive art and crafts sale featuring the artists themselves and their wares. A wide range of disciplines are on display, including pottery, glass work, slumping and stained glass, sculpture, soapstone, marble, clay and bronze, jewelry, silver and gold smiths, fabric art, wood work, quilting, and, other high quality art and crafts. The show takes place Saturday Nov.12 from 10:00am – 6:00pm and Sunday, Nov.13 from 10:00-4:30. It is organized by the Potters Addict Ceramic Art Centre and the Rotary Centre for the Arts.

Across the street at Prospera Place, another artisan and craft fair will be taking place called Holiday Festival of Creations, also on November 12 (11 am to 6 pm) and November 13 (10 am to 4 pm). Between both shows in Kelowna’s Cultural District, this promises to be a weekend of discoveries and shopping! There will be about 150 artisan and home-based businesses displaying unique arts, crafts, clothing, jewelry, food products, and various gift and home decorating ideas perfect for the holiday season.

CedarCreek Estate Winery is hosting their annual Women & Wine Event on November 20. The girls-only event runs from 1 pm to 4 pm, and offers tasty treats, complimentary wine tastings, 15% of gift and wine purchases, and many artisan booths set up around the winery grounds. Admission is by donation to the Kelowna Women’s Shelter, including such items as grocery gifts, cards, and toiletries. A festive event in support of a worthy cause!

The Okanagan Lavender & Herb Farm is holding its Christmas Fair on November 26 from 10 am to 4 pm. Celebrate the Christmas season with hot teas blended at the farm, hot apple cider, lavender meringues and lavender truffles. Pick up wonderful gifts and stocking stuffers at the Lavender Farm’s Country Store while you browse in the festive atmosphere.

There are many more fairs and festive events for the holidays on throughout the city this month. The Kelowna Visitor Centre has a full listing of the events by date, so drop in and pick up a listing at 544 Harvey Ave., and let our friendly Visitor Counselors inform you about all the options.
