Serwa pumped for final

Kelowna's Kelsey Serwa says she is "pumped" for today's women's skicross at the 2018 Winter Olympics.

Serwa skied down the course in one minute 13.33 seconds during yesterday's individual seeding runs. She was second quickest down the course, part of a one-two-three Canadian finish.

"Pumped to qualify 2nd today as part of the Canadian sweep with @bigairmar & @brittanyphelan," Serwa said on her Instagram account after the seeding run.

"We’ll be racing head-to-head tomorrow at 10 a.m., which is 5 p.m. PST on Feb. 22 for all the greats watching at home."

Today's race was originally scheduled to start at 6:30 this evening with the final about 9:30.

However, incoming wind forced the race to be moved up and compressed. The race starts at 5 p.m., with the final at 6:20 p.m.

Reigning Olympic gold medalist Marielle Thompson, who hasn't raced since rupturing her ACL and MCL in mid-October, was fastest down the hill.

Brittany Phelan was third.

Several viewing parties are being planned for Big White and around the city.

One such event will be held at Boston Pizza in the Dilworth Centre beginning at 4:30. The viewing party is being hosted by Barefoot Venus.
