Go after half Ironman?
Kelowna lost out on the Ironman Canada race to Whistler, so, why not go to Plan B.
Okay, so the city didn't have a Plan B, however, Castanet.net did ask mayor Walter Gray if there has been any discussion around a possible bid to host a 70.3 race - a half Ironman?
While saying the city was focussed on the Ironman Canada race and didn't have a Plan B, he says it wouldn't be a bad idea.
"Certainly that is something that should be and needs to be thought of because why would we waste all of that energy and all that we've done in terms of preparing ourselves and not, at the end of the day, consider the back-up," says Gray.
The mayor says he learned a lot about both the Ironman brand and the community as a whole throughout the five week bid process.
He believes the city would be a great host for Ironman.
What do you think.
Should Kelowna inquire about the possibility of hosting a 70.3 race?
