The largest seal hunt in Canadian history is under way off the coast of Newfoundland and Labrador -- sparking outrage from animal rights' group across the globe.
An estimated 300,000 harp seals are expected to be slaughtered this hunting season.
In February, the federal government increased the total allowable catch to 975,000 over three years arguing the cull is essential in preserving cod stocks and sustaining local economies.
