Poll: Non-Docs Testing Eyes

After three months of consultation, the B.C. government is going ahead with its plan to allow non-doctors to test eyes. It would make the province the only jurisdiction in North America to allow non-doctors to prescribe corrective lenses. The new regulations would allow opticians to do routine sight tests on healthy adults. They would not allow them to work on anyone under 19 or over 65, or those with high blood pressure, diabetes or other illnesses which could affect the eyes. They also would not be allowed prescribe contact lenses.
