Kelowna city council has agreed to ask pay-and-display suppliers for a one-year trial of their ticket dispensing machines which would replace conventional parking meters. The trial will take place on Bernard Avenue and Sunset Drive.
The solar powered machines spit out a parking receipt, which is then displayed on a vehicle dashboard. A single machine would replace five parking meters.
The new dispensers will accept cash, credit cards and smart cards which contain a pre-purchased amount of parking time.
