Slot machines are about to start showing up in B.C. bingo halls – which will then be labelled "community gaming facilities."
The first slots will be up and running this fall, with more on the way.
So far, the government has approved slot machines for bingo halls in Dawson Creek and Williams Lake, to be followed by Kelowna and Campbell River.
Eight other communities have expressed interest – Powell River, Courtenay, Fort Nelson, Kamloops, Mission, Port Alberni, Fort St. John and Prince George.
Municipalities will get 10 per cent of the revenue from the slot machines.
