A Kelowna couple at the centre of a dispute over a parcel of land on the Mission Creek Greenway says she and her husband might look like the bad guys in the Greenway dispute but says they're doing it to protect the rights of all landowners in Kelowna.
On Wednesday, the BC Supreme Court ruled that Thomas McLeay and Deanna Arelis are the rightful owners of the land. The Province claimed it was crown land and had a lease to use if from the province for the Greenway.
Arelis says she and her husband are not interested in selling the land but would entertain the idea of signing a lease agreement with the city but must first be reimbursed for thousands of dollars in legal costs. She says until they get that money people who use their land will be considered as trespassers.
