It has been more than a week since Vernon city council voted in favour of imposing shopping cart bylaws.
The bylaws will create a city-wide ban on shopping carts in public spaces; require businesses to use anti-theft protection on carts as well as require businesses to dispose of expired shopping carts at their own expense and recover abandoned carts when identified.
It is hoped that the bylaws, currently being drafted, will hold both business and the street-entrenched to account over the misuse of shopping carts.
