The fine for distracted driving is about to more than double.
The provincial government announced this week the current $167 fine will jump to $368, effective June 1. The offence will also cost four penalty points instead of three.
By raising the fine and imposing an extra penalty point, first-time offenders will now face a minimum $543-hit to the wallet.
