The wildfire season is off to an ominous start.
The number of fires burning in the province (224), is already double last year and nearly double the 10-year average, while hectares burned (40,000), is almost 30 times the 10-year average.
With the destruction in Fort McMurray in the spotlight, some are already calling on the province to ban all fires immediately across the province.
