Mandatory seatbelt law?
A Vernon man refuses to wear a seatbelt while driving his car and has now accrued 28 violation tickets.
His latest ticket was issued this past weekend. He allegedly told the officer who pulled him over that he feels it would be better to NOT be restrained in the event of a crash.
At the average price of today's ticket for failing to wear a seatbelt ($167), it means he has been fined over $4000.
There is no word on whether this person has ever been a victim of a serious car accident.
