Fintry Queen in Penticton?

After being turned down in Kelowna and West Kelowna, Fintry Queen owner Andy Schwab hopes to dock the paddle wheeler in Penticton.
Schwab is slated to give a presentation at tonight's, (Monday) council meeting on the matter.
Primarily, he is seeking council's support to proceed with a sub-license for a commercial lot lease for the Fintry Queen, upon approval from the province.
With the support of the council, he said in a letter dated Oct. 30, we will commence the design and permitting to moor and operate the Fintry Queen as a commercial passenger ship at a dock to be constructed adjacent to the Kiwanis Pier at the foot of Main and Martin streets.
Once in Penticton, the owner believes it will become a landmark tourist attraction, be an economic generator through direct jobs and spinoffs and be a focal point for meetings, events and activities,as well as bring other benefits to the community.
In terms of financial considerations, Schwab said he is not asking for any money from the city.
With council's support , the hope is to commence plans for scheduled operations by the summer of 2014, offering two to three cruises a day and charter service.
