Art appraisals at Penticton Art Gallery

Maybe you have a fortune hiding in your attic or untold wealth hanging on your wall. You never know what something may be worth until you get it appraised, and that’s why the Penticton Art Gallery is inviting the public to come down and share their antiques and collectibles with two of the leading experts in their fields.

Anthony Westbridge of Westbridge Fine Arts in Vancouver, and publisher of the Canadian Arts Sales Index will be on hand along with Peter Blundell, a nationally recognized certified appraiser and owner of Blundell Art and Antiques in Vernon.

The event will take place on May 8, and people will have the chance to learn the history and value of their pieces and possibly have the opportunity to be filmed for a future segment on Shaw TV.

Peter Blundell will be giving verbal appraisals on the values of antiques, collectibles and prints or reproductions, with a few minor exceptions -- he cannot appraise jewelry, coins, stamps, guns and wristwatches. However pocket watches and swords may be brought in for an evaluation.

Anyone with large furniture pieces are asked to bring a portion of the piece, along with a good photo and the items measurements.

Anthony Westbridge will be giving verbal appraisals on original works of art, with the possibility of taking some pieces to Vancouver for inclusion into one of his monthly fine art auctions. His particular expertise is work done by Canadian artists.

To make an appointment to have something appraised, contact the Penticton Art Gallery at 250-493-2928.
