Baby found during drug bust

RCMP officers found a 7-month-baby, as well as methamphetamine and drug trafficking paraphernalia in a Penticton motel room last week.

The situation started on Dec. 6 when police arrested a  22-year-old Penticton man for allegedly trafficking in methamphetamine outside a local mall.

Following his arrest, a drug search warrant was executed at the motel room in the 1400 block of Main Street, where officers found three more adults and the baby.

The three adults were later released with no charges. Brody Raymond Murray faces four drug trafficking and weapons charges. He has been remanded in custody.

The Ministry of Children and Family Development was notified by investigators following the discovery of the baby, said Cpl. Dan Moskaluk.

It's not unusual to come across children in these types of situations, he added.

When they are located, officers' immediate concern is for their health and welfare.
