Residents plan second waterfront rally
Residents concerned about the proposed waterfront development on Lakeshore Drive in Penticton, are organizing a second rally this Saturday, Oct. 13.
The goal is not only to make voters aware of the importance of getting their voices heard at a public forum on Oct. 17 but to also send a message to the city to slow down the spending spree it is on, according to organizer Clifford Martin.
Residents expressed worries about city plans to revitalize the waterfront at a prior rally and at a recent meeting at City Hall. The greatest concern being doing away with angled parking on the street. Many also feel there is no need to make changes at this time.
City leaders say they are listening carefully to all the feedback and nothing is set in stone on the matter.
The public forum for everyone to see the four West Okanagan Lake waterfront concepts will be held from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Oct. 17 at the Penticton Trade and Convention Centre.
The public will also be invited to view concepts and ask questions on Oct. 16 at City Hall and the Penticton Recreation Centre and during the day Oct. 17 at the convention centre.
The rally is slated for 11 a.m, from Main Street to the Peach on Lakeshore Drive.
