Sex offender back behind bars
A recently released high-risk sex offender is back behind bars yet again.
Phillipe Poisson was arrested Wednesday, after he breached one of the conditions of his recognizance by accessing the Internet from a local downtown location.
On Aug. 15, Judge James Threlfall handed down a sentence of four months with time served in a Penticton courtroom at the conclusion of a breach trial. Poisson, 20, was subsequently let go.
He was behind bars awaiting trial for a breach of recognizance dating back to Jan. 7 of this year.
On that date he approached a 14-year-old girl in Kaleden, where he was living, and asked to pet her horse.
Poisson has had several breaches in the past and was charged with a sexual offence as a youth living in the U.S.
At the end of the breach trial, the judge said he hoped time in custody would be a lesson for him, and if he breached again he could face eight months.
His next court appearance is set for Sept. 5.
