A man is recovering in the Intensive Care Unit at Kelowna General Hospital after he was stabbed in Penticton Friday night.

Around 7:20 p.m., July 27, Penticton RCMP officers responded to a stabbing report in the 200 Block of  Power Street.

The incident escalated after two men became involved in a argument earlier in the evening.

One man left and returned later with another male and the argument continued.

RCMP Sgt. Rick Dellebuur says in the ensuing dispute, a 39 year old Penticton resident was stabbed.

The victim was treated by Emergency Health Services for stab wounds to the chest and neck area at the scene and was initially transported to Penticton General Hospital where it was determined the man would have to be sent to KGH for surgery.

Dellebuur adds the victim is expected to recover from his injuries.

Witnesses identified the attacker for police and that led to the arrest of a 31 year old Penticton man in front of his nearby residence at 8:44 p.m.

Another 40 year old Penticton resident was implicated in the assault and arrested at the scene.

He was released from custody and ordered to appear in Penticton Court on August 22.

Charges of Possession of a Weapon are being recommended.

The other alleged attacker remains in custody facing charges of Aggravated Assault and Breach of Probation. All three males are well known to police.
