Penticton expanding Skaha Lake Park

Skaha Park is about to expand as City crews prepare to begin construction on a new park area.

The area, approximately three acres in size, is located between Elm Avenue and the beach promenade, directly east of the existing sand volleyball courts.

The development will convert the existing undeveloped land into a new irrigated lawn area for picnicking and recreational use.

Fifty new trees will be planted in this area to compensate for the loss of trees in recent windstorms.

The new irrigation system will utilize treated effluent water and operate using an ET-based weather station.

This area will be fenced and closed to the public during the construction process, which is scheduled to begin in late February.

After the grass seed is established the new park area will be opened to the public, which is expected to be early June.

This project is one of City Council’s Strategic Priorities, which includes the enhancement of our waterfront areas, and is in support of the City of Penticton’s Vision Statement.
