The workplace campaigns within the United Way's annual fundraising drive have have proved very successful for the South Okanagan Similkmaeen chapter.
Lorri Saddlemen lead the employees of the Penticton Canadian Revenue Office in raising funds.
"This year we had an extremely exciting activity only because one of our committee members was kind enough to cut her hair and that was Amanda Chaplin, and she was to have her entire hair buzzed off."
But before the chopping was about to begin, Chaplin says her mom turned up to watch the even and had mixed emotions about a bald daughter.
"She decided that she didn't want her daughter to be bald so she matched the donation for me to keep my hair."
In the end, $6000 was raised from the hair cut and a total of $23,000 was raised by the Canadian Revenue Agency.
