An Osoyoos Indian Band member who is charged with the death of his younger brother, will appear for a preliminary inquiry on April 30, at the Penticton Court House.
The date for the inquiry was set Monday morning in Penticton, as well as a date of April 2, for a trial confirmation hearing, according to Neil MacKenzie, communications counsel with the criminal justice branch.
Kyle Louie is charged with second-degree murder in the death of his brother 20-year-old Reece Louie, on Feb. 19, 2011 on the Osoyoos Indian Band Reserve.
According to an RCMP report, the Oliver RCMP attended to a disturbance at a home on Black Sage Road on the reserve on the afternoon of Feb. 19, as a result of a 911 call from the residence.
Upon arrival, RCMP officers found Reece Louie lying outside the residence bleeding and suffering from serious injuries.
He died later that night, and the RCMP confirmed it as a homicide.
Kyle Louie was initially arrested for aggravated assault, which was then upgraded to murder when the victim died.
