Ex-cop pleads not guilty

Ex- RCMP officer Keith Wiens,  who was charged with the second degree murder of his common-law wife Lynn Kalmring, has plead not guilty.

Don Skogstad, the attorney representing Weins, says Weins entered the not guilty plea on Monday in a Penticton Court room.

" A trial has been set for November 14 and it will be a trial by jury."

Skogstad says it has not been decided where the trial will be held, though it will be in either Penticton or Kelowna.

"It's up to ourselves, Crown Counsel and my client to see if we want the venue changed to Kelowna, but I would like a speedy trial for my client."

Court officials confirm a ban on publication will be imposed on some aspects of the trial.
