Police looking for Nazi poster plasterer

Penticton RCMP say they are looking for a man who plastered posters all over downtown Penticton in an attempt to libel local councillor Mike Pearce.

Police say they were made aware of a man who was posting photocopied photos of Pearce with an obvious drawn-on mustache resembling the mustache Nazi leader Adolf Hitler wore during the 1940's. The poster also had the words "Vote for me Mike Pearce Nazi Party" in a large font.

Several posters were put up between January 27 and January 28. RCMP have videotape of a suspect putting up a poster at about 10:35 p.m. January 27. The man's vehicle is also in the surveillance video.

Police believe the man behind this defamation is also behind an earlier defamation in December. In this defamation, the man posted photos of a local resident, with captions reading "Convicted Sex Offender" and "Rapist – Wanted By Police."

Anyone with any information is asked to call Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or the Penticton RCMP.
