A convicted sex offender has moved from Oliver to Gallagher Lake, spurring a public notification to be sent out by B.C. Corrections Branch.

Ronald Arthur Teneycke, 47, had been living in Oliver after he was released from a federal penitentiary in January of 2007.

He served 12 years for the violent rape of an Oliver teen in 1993 and for threatening the life of a probation officer.

Teneycke moved to Oliver in June of 2007, prompting public outrage as officials considered Teneycke a high risk to re-offend.

Oliver is Teneycke's hometown and he was living there with his uncle and common-law wife.

A public meeting was held to answer resident's question about the convicted sex offender shortly after he moved to Oliver.

Less than two months after moving to the South Okanagan community, Teneycke was arrested for breaching his parole conditions and given a sentence of about six months, plus additional parole.

Gallagher Lake is north of Oliver.
