An aircraft has been destroyed by fire in the South Okanagan.
The twin-engine Beech Baron Itinerant aircraft was parked at the Oliver Airport just after 4 a.m. Monday when it went up in flames.
Member of the airport's advisory committee, Paul Dumoret, says no one was on board the plane at the time.
“There were two other planes parked nearby which had to be moved, but they weren't damaged. However, the plane that caught fire, was pretty much destroyed,” says Dumoret.
He says the owner of the plane is a former airline pilot who had flown up from the coast to visit family.
“The Oliver Fire Services responded quickly and used foam to put out the fire.”
Dumoret says the cause of the fire isn't known, but is being investigated.
No injuries have been reported.
