The Critteraid Animal Sanctuary in Summerland looking for home for a dog full of energy and sweetness

A one-year-old rough collie golden retriever cross is ready to fit in with its forever home after being cared for by the Critteraid Animal Sanctuary in Summerland.

Annie is hoping to find a dog-experienced home that will understand that it's going to take her some time to settle in.

"Annie was unfortunately conditioned as a young pup to not know when her next meal was coming. Because of this Annie has displayed some food and high-value item possession towards dogs and other pets," Critteraid Dog House Director Arlene Dunstan-Adams said.

"Due to her background, Annie is best suited to be the only pet in the home."

This will be Annie's third home, but she had to leave her previous home at no fault of her own. While the pup successfully lives with two other dogs and three senior cats, it took her a couple of months to be comfortable around other pets when food was around.

In her foster home, Annie was a little too excited to play with the young cat of the home for Critteraid to be comfortable placing her in a home with young energetic kitties.

"Annie is an active girl that does enjoy socializing with dogs off of her property. Annie loves the beach and she would make a great exercise partner for someone," Dunstan-Adams said.

The 65 to 70 pound pup would like a fully fenced yard in her new home as she loves to play ball and throw sticks and just enjoy the outdoors.

"This girl has a bit of separation anxiety, so it's going to take her a little bit of time to get used to a new routine. But patience and understanding will be the key with Annie," Dunstan-Adams added.

"At the end of the day, she's going to bond with you and become your best friend and your protector."

Annie should go to an adult-only home or to a home with children that are in their teens.

"People interacting with her need to be able to read her and know to just let her come to you."
