Regional District of Okanagan Similkameen reminds residents that during snowfall events, curb collection may be delayed

Collection may be delayed

The Regional District of Okanagan Similkameen is reminding residents that during snow events, curbside garbage collection may be postponed if roads are not safe.

AIM Roads is contracted to maintain snow removal service for RDOS roads, and highways through the region. Highways and emergency routes are prioritized, followed by bus routes, arterial roads and secondary roads.

If garbage collection trucks to rural areas cannot safely make it to residences if the roads have not yet been tended to, collection may be missed.

Waste Connections of Canada collects curbside recycling and garbage for the majority of rural residences in Electoral Areas “A”, “B”, “C”, “D”, “E”, “F”, “G”, and “I”, as well as the Village of Keremeos.

If your collection has been missed due to poor road conditions, contact Waste Connections of Canada at 250-490-3888 or email [email protected] to find out when the pick-up is scheduled to occur.

Snow removal queries within the RDOS can be directed to AIM Roads at 1-866-222-4202 or email [email protected].

Residents whose waste pickup has been missed are asked not to leave their waste on the curb overnight, as it can be an animal attractant.
