Hundreds of opportunities at the Start Here Penticton Job Fair in March

Whether you're searching for a new job or a local employer with jobs to fill, the Start Here Penticton Job Fair will be bringing together hundreds of job-seekers with dozens of local employers in March.

The event, organized by the Penticton & Wine Country Chamber of Commerce, the City of Penticton, and WorkBC Centre South Okanagan, will be held at the Penticton Trade & Convention Centre on Thursday, March 9, 2023, seeking to hire both entry-level and experienced employees.

Employers are encouraged to register online as soon as possible at penticton.ca/jobfair to secure their vendor space. The event will be free for job-seekers, with further details to be revealed in the coming weeks.

“We are ecstatic to help our business community connect with potential workers, especially at a time when many industries are looking to fill their vacancies as well as increase their staffing levels as we get closer to summer,” Jonathan McGraw, President of the Penticton & Wine Country Chamber of Commerce said in a news release.

“Anyone interested in scoping out new jobs and career options should mark their calendars for this upcoming event. It’s an opportunity to make an impression in person with some of the Penticton’s top employers,” says Anthony Haddad, the City of Penticton’s General Manager of Community Services. “The City of Penticton is proud to work with our community partners to bring back this fantastic event to our community.”

The fair will also feature a resource hall as well as the WorkBC Learning Centre.

“WorkBC South Okanagan is delighted to be working with their community partners to showcase services and provide educational information sessions to both employers and job seekers including such topics as Inclusive Hiring, the Diversity Advantage, and more,” Cary Berger, Community Engagement Manager with WorkBC South Okanagan said

The resource hall will consist of community organizations including WorkBC Centre South Okanagan, Okanagan College, Travel Penticton, South Okanagan Immigrant & Community Services, the Penticton Industrial Development Association, and more yet to be announced. WorkBC’s Learning Centre will host 30-minute presentations covering a variety of topics aimed at both employee and employer audiences.

Registration for employers will include the opportunity to highlight the benefits of working for their particular organization, and the jobs that are currently – or are expected to become – available in the months following the job fair.

Job-seekers are encouraged, but not required, to register for their free ticket ahead of time at penticton.ca/jobfair. This will give organizers a better idea of how many will be attending and what they are interested in, both in terms of the types of jobs they are looking for, as well as what they would be interested in learning at the WorkBC Learning Centre.
