MVA takes out power lines

A motor-vehicle accident at the corner of Government Street and Warren Avenue appears to have knocked out power to nearby businesses.

Emergency crews were called to the corner around 4:35 p.m. Friday, arriving to find a minor MVA and power lines down.

A witness says a dump truck hauling a small excavator appears to be involved, hitting a power line next to the roadway.

City of Penticton utility crews are on scene dealing with the situation.

Castanet has received reports the nearby Superstore and surrounding stores lost power around the same time of the crash.
