Crash traumatic to witnesses

UPDATE: 2:05 p.m.

A Summerland resident has provided details about the crash early Friday morning.

She wished to remain anonymous, but said her child's friend was one of the victims in the grey car who had to be transported to hospital.

"There's a couple people in Summerland spreading a lot of rumours saying it wasn't serious, which is just ridiculous," the woman said. "He was in the passenger seat and he took most of the impact, which is an extremely traumatic thing to have happened."

She said the Pharmasave side parking lot where the crash happened is in a school zone near Summerland Secondary, and at 8:30 a.m. there were plenty of students around who witnessed the incident.

"For people to say that that's not traumatic and not serious, that's BS," the woman said.

She said the area is a common drop-off spot for parents dropping students off to go to school.

"Apparently the white vehicle hit the SUV and they collided with the car," she said, citing her daughter, who witnessed the incident.

Castanet is still awaiting comment from authorities.
