Legion move gets green light

The Penticton branch of the Royal Canadian Legion has cleared a hurdle to completing its move from its current home.

City council supported Tuesday transferring the liquor license from the Legion’s current location at 502 Martin Street to 257 Brunswick Street, the old ANAVETS location.

The motion passed unanimously with no discussion, with city staff noting they have not received any complaints about the plan.

Penticton’s Legion voted at the end of 2018 to explore leaving its current home for financial reasons.

The Penticton ANAVETS club was shuttered in March 2018 after allegations of theft and dissolution of the club's management.
