City plows ready for snow

The City of Penticton says its crews are ready for snow in the forecast.

Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning for the Okanagan Valley, advising of 10-15 centimetres expected in the Valley bottom by Wednesday morning. Twenty could fall on the mountain passes. Snow is expected to start early this evening.

The city says snow removal efforts are prioritized to focus on main roads, steep hills, school zones and industrial roads. Residential streets, side streets and lanes are at the bottom of the list.

Drivers are asked to give snowplows and crews plenty of space and consider moving vehicles off street parking to allow plows to work.

All sidewalks must be cleared of snow and ice by a property owner by 11 a.m. after snow stops falling.

“We would like to thank residents in advance for their patience as road crews begin the process of clearing our streets and sidewalks of snow and ice," said public works manager, Len Robson.
