Sleeping driver rolls car

A sleepy driver is being blamed for a single-vehicle rollover Wednesday morning north of Penticton.

Emergency crews were called to the crash just south of Kickininee Provincial Park at 6:30 a.m.

“The driver, who was headed to the Kelowna airport, momentarily lost control of his Volkswagen,” said Const. James Grandy in a news release. “The vehicle swerved across the oncoming lane and up onto a median, which resulted in the vehicle rolling multiple times, before landing back on its wheels.”

Police say the driver was not impaired and suffered only minor injuries. It’s believed the driver may have fallen asleep at the wheel.
